Call to Worship

One: Time calls us to this place

All: to find comfort, to find caring, to love one another.

One: Time is a gift we are given each morning we rise.

All: It is our responsibility to use it wisely.

One: It is also our responsibility to use it gently.

All: To be, rather than always “to do.”

One: We are human creatures

All: and we come to this place to honour our Creator.

One: Come, sit, listen, and most importantly, BE in this place.

All: We have come answering God’s call.

Opening Prayer

*Opening Hymn Love Divine, All Loves Excelling (#333 VU)

Prayer of Confessional and Renewal (Unison)

Gracious God, there are times we feel weak, when we feel that we have not lived as godly people, times when we feel we deserve your anger, times when we know we betray and hurt others. Help us to overcome our suffering and make amends for the suffering we cause others, by the power of your Holy Spirit. In silence, we bring to you our own confessions and our hope for a new beginning. (a time of silent confession) Amen.

Words of Assurance

One: We have peace with God, through the Holy Spirit, and reconciliation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

All: Let us share that peace with the world. Amen.

Anthem

Sermon

*Hymn To Abraham and Sarah (#634 VU)

*Offering

*Offertory Hymn Though I May Speak (#372 VU|vs.2&3)

2 Though I may give all I possess, and striving so my love profess,

but not be given by love within, the profit soon turns strangely thin.

3 Come, Spirit, come, our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole.

Let inward love guide every deed; by this we worship, and are freed.

*Offertory Prayer (Unison)
How good it feels to give, to share, to be of help to others, O God, in whatever way we can. We pray that these gifts, of money and of ourselves, will be a positive force for your purpose, in our broken world and in the lives of others, through our Saviour Christ. Amen.

Prayers of the People and Lord’s Prayer

*Closing Hymn Bless Now, O God, the Journey (#633 VU)

*Commissioning

One: Go from this place in the certain knowledge of God’s love.

All: We go, knowing that Jesus travels with us: in our fear, in our sorrow, in our joy.

One: Go in faith and in love.

All: We go with the assurance that God sets us free, equipped to wrestle faithfully with a world of contradiction.

*Commissioning Song I Am Sending You Light (#99 TLUS)

I am sending you light to heal you, to hold you.

I am sending you light to hold you in love. x2

No matter where you go, no matter where you’ve been;

You’ll never walk alone. I feel you deep within.

I am sending you light to heal you, to hold you.

I am sending you light to hold you in love. x2
