Call to Worship

One: In worship, we are invited to call upon the name of the Lord,

All: to call on God’s presence for all we need.

One: We call upon God in hope and prayer,

All: bringing before God our dreams and our fears, trusting God with our desires and our disappointments.

One: We call upon God in joy and music,

All: bringing to God our laughter and delight, honouring God in our friendships and communities.

One: We call upon God craving mercy and care

All: to be comforted by God’s love, forgiven by God’s grace, and strengthened through faith in God’s eternal power.

One: Come, call upon God as we worship today.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of Confessional and Renewal (Unison)

God of love and life, we have been called as your disciples and asked to give of ourselves as you send us forth on an assignment for you. We have been called to give all that we have and all that we are to your work. But we make excuses and put you off till another day. Forgive us. Open our spirits so we can receive your call. (a time of silent confession) Amen.

Words of Assurance

One: God is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

All: Even when we fall short, God does not let us go.

One: Christ meets us where we are, forgives us, and strengthens us to begin again.

All: We are forgiven. We are renewed. We are called once more. Amen.

*Offertory Hymn (Tune: #374VU)

Acts of kindness, times for sharing; bringing Christ to human need.

Caring for the least among us; simple actions plant the seed.

By our giving and forgiving, work a miracle of love.

Holy presence to us offered; Praise the One who reigns above.

*Offertory Prayer (Unison)

Here, God, we give our gifts to the work of your church, for the encouragement of your people, and with the love of Christ in our hearts. Bless our offerings as a sign of our faith. With these gifts, encourage our service as a sign of your love, we pray in Christ’s name. Amen.
